What’s Happening Inside Bass Circle

The Three Things Standing Between You and Playing Freely

After 25 years of teaching, I’ve seen the same gaps in almost every intermediate player. It's almost always these three things, in this order:

01.

Rhythm

Not just staying on the beat. Really locking in.

The kind of groove where the bass and drums sit perfectly together in the pocket. Where you just know what you’re doing.

02.

Technique

Most players try to skip straight to improvising freely.

But that only happens after your technique is solid.

In technique, you’ll gain the ability to execute any musical idea with ease, confidence, and stamina - no matter how fast or complex it is.

Connecting Chords With Confidence

03.

Connecting Chords With Confidence

The little moves bass players use to connect chords:

  • Walk-ups

  • Passing tones

  • Fills

  • Simple ways to lead into the next chord

Mastering this allows you to hear a chord change and know where to go.

Instead of guessing or overthinking theory diagrams, you know the fretboard and move around it confidently.

Introducing Bass Circle

A structured membership designed to help bass players unlock their next level.

Instead of memorizing more songs, learn how bass players actually think about chords and movement - so you can build lines that groove, lock in with the drummer, and nail any song.

About Ran

For the past 25 years I've done two things:

1. Played bass on stages and sessions

I've toured internationally, recorded in professional studios, and shared stages with jazz legends.

2. Helped bass players figure out why they feel stuck

I know the feeling because I went through it myself.

For years I could play gigs and learn songs…

But there were gaps in my foundation I didn't even realize were there.

The work I've done since then has been about one thing :

figuring out exactly why bass players plateau, and how to fix it.

That's what Bass Circle is built around.

FAQS

I'm a complete beginner. Is this right for me?

You'll need at least six months of playing experience and basic fretboard knowledge to get the most from Bass Circle. If you're just starting out, you’re welcome to join to learn advanced skills from day one - Just know the focus is on confidence and creativity, not learning how to play C.

I've been playing for 20+ years. Will I learn anything new?

Almost certainly. Most experienced players plateau because of hidden gaps in their foundation, usually rhythm or ear training. If you've been playing the same lines for years, this will take your playing to the next level.

How is this different from YouTube?

YouTube gives you content. Bass Circle gives you a clear path to become the best bass player you can be - and rock the tunes you picked up the bass for.

The difference is knowing what to practice, in what order, and how to turn it into powerful music - with feedback and a clear progression, instead of more time-wasting videos.

How much time do I need?

20-30 minutes a few times a week is enough to make real progress. The focus isn't long sessions, it's focused, directed practice. You'll always know what to work on next.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, one click inside your account. No red tape.

This Isn’t Really About Bass

It’s about becoming the kind of musician you’ve always imagined being.

The one who can walk into a rehearsal, plug in, and feel the groove settle in your chest the moment the drummer counts off.

You hear the chords once… and your hands already know where to go.

Your lines aren’t stiff or cautious anymore. They move. They breathe. They push the song forward.

The drummer turns around and smiles because you’re locked in.

The guitars sound bigger because you’re holding the whole thing down.

And instead of staring at the fretboard hoping you don’t mess up…

You’re inside the music. You’re the music.

Listening. Reacting. Adding fills. Dropping back into the pocket.

Just jaming.

That version of you isn’t some fantasy player years away.

It’s what happens when expressing yourself through bass - at the highest level - finally clicks.
